TL;DR

OnlyPusa is a free web project for cat parents in the Philippines.

We build simple tools and resources to make caring for our cats a little easier, starting with the OnlyPusa Cat Food Database.

Making cat food easier to understand.

Cat food labels can be confusing and information is surprisingly scattered.

Important details may be found on the packaging, manufacturer websites, official importer or distributor websites, retailer price listings, regulatory documents, or other published sources, and those sources do not always present information in the same way. The OnlyPusa Cat Food Database brings these details together in one place so cat parents don’t have to piece them together from different sources.

OnlyPusa is not here to replace veterinary advice or decide what every cat should eat.

More than a score

OnlyPusa does not give cat foods or brands a single overall score, star rating, or ranking.

We do not want to reduce a food or brand to one number that says it is simply “good” or “bad.” Instead, we look at specific areas that can be checked, such as who makes the food, how it is made, and whether a particular product fits its intended use.

Some parts of our reviews, such as brand transparency, may have their own score or rating based on documented criteria. These scores only describe that specific area and should not be read as an overall food quality or safety score.

When something cannot be confirmed, we would rather show it as missing, unclear, or pending review than guess.

Same rules for every brand.

We organize and explain available product data using the same approach for every brand. Brands and retailers cannot pay for better classifications or to have unfavorable information removed.

Built with the community.

OnlyPusa grows with help from cat parents who share product photos, submit corrections, and help us document cat food products available in the Philippines.

An account is not needed to start contributing. Every contribution makes the database a little more useful for everyone.

How OnlyPusa stays free.

OnlyPusa is free to use.

We build and maintain the project ourselves, and we are not backed by or affiliated with any pet food brand or manufacturer. Keeping OnlyPusa independent is important to us and non-negotiable.

Running the site still comes with costs, so we applied to affiliate programs in the hope that commissions can help cover some of the expenses such as hosting, infrastructure, and other tools needed to keep the project running.

Affiliate commissions do not affect how products are evaluated, classified, or displayed in the database.

We're cat parents too.

OnlyPusa is made by two cat parents who work in tech, but the Cat Food Database really started with one of our own cats, Mina.

You may have already seen her on the OnlyPusa homepage.

Back in 2023, Mina was diagnosed with struvite crystals and eventually needed surgery. We almost lost her, but she's a fighter and thankfully she's still here with us.

We have other cats in our care too, and what happened with Mina made us pay much closer attention to what we feed them. We started reading labels more carefully, learning about cat food nutrition, and looking more closely at the products available to us.

That's when we realized how difficult it can be to find clear and up-to-date information, especially for products actually sold in the Philippines. A lot of the resources we found focused on international brands, while information about local and commonly available products was often scattered across packaging, brand websites, online stores, and social media.

We’re not pet nutritionists or cat food experts. We’re just typical cat parents, still learning and asking many of the same questions ourselves.

OnlyPusa is our attempt to gather what we can verify into one place and hopefully make that search a little easier for other cat parents. We hope that as the database grows, it becomes more useful for the community.

The Cat Food Database isn't meant to tell people what they should feed their cats or replace guidance from a veterinarian. It's a starting point for finding and understanding the information that's out there.
